Medical science is wonderful.  So are Hollywood superhero movies.

What do the two have in common?  Sometimes, more than you would think.  Take, for example, Wolverine.  You know that scene where they inject a bunch of crap (adamantium, for the nitpicking geeks)  into his body to make him virtually indestructible?  That scene isn’t quite as far into the realm of science fiction as you might think.

Recently, Johnson & Johnson announced they were launching an injectible bone graft replacement called HEALOS Fx.  This moldable, mixable, injectible compound is designed to reduce invasive surgery.  How cool is that?  Injectible bone replacement!

From the original press release:

HEALOS Fx, which has a cohesive consistency when saturated with the patient’s bone marrow, provides both a continuous scaffold for bone formation and the osteoprogenitor cells needed to initiate new bone growth. The material is resorbed and remodeled into new bone as part of the healing process.

When I read about some of this awesome cutting edge medical technology, I can sometimes breakthrough my overall cynicism about today’s world and believe that things are getting a little bit better.
