It’s cool, it’s cute — it’s cule?

It’s the covers of classic albums, where human faces have been replaced by the feline.

It’s The Kitty Covers, and all it needs now is an mp3 blog devoted to all-cat-sounds remakes. You know, a meow mix.

As Corey Redekop said on Facebook, this could be the cutest zombie movie ever.

ParaNorman is described like this, on the Yahoo site:

When a small town comes under siege by zombies, who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. I just love that nearly-wordless trailer. And what a song choice!

In a Twitter aside, a fellow I follow by the handle of @cdnbeer tweeted that he was crushing hard on some of the cute girls playing in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts (the Canadian women’s curling championship, in case you’re out of the loop).

A bit of a back-and-forth ensued, with me suggesting that we create a hashtag. We debated #hotgirlsyellinghurryhard and #rockmystones before I had a brainwave — we needed a tournament-style bracket, to determine the curler with the ultimate cuteness.

And #tournamentofmyheart was born.

Look, I know nothing about sports tournament brackets, so I kind of winged this, but I think it’s a double single-elimination bracket. That is, each girl is seeded twice, once facing off against her teammates, and again facing off against the other people who play her position. The winner of each side can face off against each other — if it isn’t the same person!

As I say in the “official rules”, feel free to judge each player based on anything that tickles your fancy,  it’s just for fun and I don’t want to raise the hackles or the ire of anyone who thinks I’m debasing the sport of curling by focusing on looks. Besides, there are plenty of women who watch sports for the hunky men in tight pants.

So, turn on your TV, and enjoy the game. But if you want, now you can play your very own parallel tournament.

These kitties know how to relax — and they aren’t going to let their unorthodox headwear faze them! Perhaps this is the feline version of the I’ve-never-seen-it-in-real-life drunk who wears a light shade on his head.

I’m going to take this video as a hint. It’s time to kick back and rest. So, enjoy Louis Riel Day! Possibly the best decision the Doer government ever made.

Amy spotted these awesome little photo “hangers” on PhotoJojo, and I think we’re going to buy them. At $10 for a pack of seven — plus shipping — they’re a tad on the pricey side, but that’s just speaking relatively. They’re still less than a night out.

Plus, cute! Right?

Amy loves that ad. She thinks the characters are sooo cute. I agree! But they don’t sell Excel-branded toys anywhere that I can find (I looked).

So I asked my friend Stacey if she could custom-craft them. Stacey, who blogs and crafts at nisseworks, has been a friend of mine for ages, and I’ve been impressed with her work when she posts it — so I was happy to hand her a custom job.

She tackled it with alacrity!

After Christmas had passed, and Amy had safely opened her gifts (she loved them), Stacey blogged a bit about the process. I’m happy to share some of it with you:

I’ve been waiting to post photos of my custom orders until after Christmas to keep from spoiling anyone’s surprises. I’ve also been waiting to hear back from everyone I did orders for about the recipient’s reactions – so far, everything’s been a massive success. Yay, me!

The amount of work that went into these characters was insane. I thought it would be simple – four stuffed things. No problem. Oh, was I wrong… I went through 6 versions of the donut; the coffee cup had a lid that was tilting at a bad angle until I ripped it off and hot glue gunned it again; and I couldn’t figure out how to make the onion and garlic actually look like an onion and a head of garlic.

In the end, I’m quite happy I did them. They were received very happily and they look pretty awesome, if you ask me.

Sadly, Stacey inadvertently erased her in-progress pics, so we’ll never get to see those flannelette characters with their plushy guts all over the place, which might be for the best.

But I do have a picture from Christmas morning:

That’s Amy, broadly beaming from behind her new favourite stuffed things. They’ve found a happy home on the top of our couch, where they make us smile and are (mostly) out of the way of our cat.

If you’re interested, Stacey runs online shops at Etsy, ArtFire and Cargoh, and I can vouch for: a) her; and b) supporting a local artisan, even if what you want is all corporate and stuff.

This is cute just because. But this is double-cute because the cat’s name is “Robocop.”

Everyone with a cat knows that it is impossible to wrap Christmas presents with one in the house, because they go absolutely nuts for those shiny, coiled ribbons.

And, everyone with a cat probably spends a shameful amount of money on fancy cat-toys that are designed to bounce and squeak and are invariably ignored about three minutes after the first toss, no matter if it’s spiked with catnip or made from real rabbit fur.

So, the obvious solution is to make some sort of cat toy from ribbon, right? I cannot be the first person to think of this, but on the assumption that I am, I hereby release it into the public domain.

Who here knows the legend of animals being given the gift of speech at midnight on Christmas Eve — allegedly to reward them for giving up their manger (and the rest of the barn) to the newborn Jesus.

I find it kind of odd that this legend seems to have floated along, under the radar, and isn’t more of a main myth every Christmas. Every child wants to wait up and catch Santa delivering presents, but no one wants to have a chat with Fluffy?

Anyway, this adorable compilation of singing animals was sent to me by Kent. I do not think I can improve on his explanation, which went thus:

Merry Absurd Χριστός-mas, Granty. ooo Kent And Ally. After extensive review, I have found that the x’s might be kisses and the o’s might be hugs. So just hugs to you, or kisses, take it however you like. Also, xxx might have been misleading. So yeah, back to the point, I just showed you why they call it X-mas, in a long winded, roundabout way.

It’s probably against some kind of FDA regulation for me to say that watching this video will make your life better, but it will certainly make your life feel better, and it will help reduce the appearance of your life being not better.

The Internet loves cats. This blog is on the Internet. Therefore, I think we are morally obligated to post videos of cats.

I can’t decide whether Flickr user vamapaull has the best friend ever, or the worst.

See, vamapaull’s “friend” borrowed vamapaull’s camera. The, said “friend” broke the camera, by losing the control knob.

Without coming clean, the “friend” hemmed and hawed for a couple of days, delaying the return of the camera — until the control knob could be replaced with a handmade wooden one.

Nobody was fooled. But at least vamapaull liked the replacement so much that he photographed it and put it up on Flickr, where it was picked up by MAKE and then by Gizmodo.

Perhaps this is too much insight into how my brain works, but the first thing that came to my mind was how this was kind of like giving a robot a wooden leg. Wooo, pirate robots!
