Frankly, I just don’t understand how people can use super-realistic futuristic cars, or hot chicks, or movie stills or whatever as a desktop background. How do you find your icons against such a busy backdrop? I much prefer the simple approach.

but then I don’t usually use the stuff on my desktop — I use the start menu, the launcher, or the command line.
I could get behind that one, but mostly I prefer a plain colour with some kind of graphic element setting it off. I use my desktop for everything. It’s basically the “My Documents” or “Documents” folder for me.
He uses it mostly for a drink coaster…
