In the right room, this bit of eye-trickery would be really cool.

If you’re handy with the wood-working, this is an idea that you could probably attempt on your own.

For the rest of us, though, they’re $8 at Design Glut. They come in white and black, and they also do electric plugs.

  1. fyi: the shipping charges were $10.95 to Canada — but that was the same when I tested for one plate or for four.

Eight bucks sounds like a slightly pricey, but what they hey, it’s only eight bucks, kind of a price, but you more than double that with shipping, which makes me cringe. So, you try to make the shipping “worth it” by buying more, and then suddenly, it’s 8×4=32, plus shipping, and you’re closing in on $50 for wall plates.

  2. I just realized that you could probably flip it 180 degrees, so it looks like it’s popping up and to the right, which might even be cooler.
