Bulletproof fashion

Based on a comment Grant made at this thread, I suddenly remembered hearing about Miguel Caballero, a Columbian deisgner specializing in “High Security Fashion:  Garments & Accessories of Personal Protection.”

Of course he’s Columbian.  That’s where the market for this stuff is…

In looking for Caballero’s website, I discovered that Obama actually wore one of these suits during his inauguration (maybe):

While no one from the U.S. Secret Service have yet to mention any details about the garment’s structure, some are speculating it may have come from the line by Colombian designer Miguel Caballero. As we noted last year, Caballero is well known for his super tough but flexible and business appropriate clothing, such as the $7,500 polo shirt that can stop a shot from a 9-mm revolver.

It almost makes me wish I had enemies violent enough to shoot at me.  Almost.

Please don’t take that as an invitation.

To be clear, my comment was referring to “bomb resistant” fashion, not bulletproof.

    Otherwise, awesome!

I would think that a bullet proof suit would protect somewhat against a bomb – the concussion and the debris and what not. Maybe not against a wrecking ball, though. And said fashion sort of leaves bomb (and bullet) sensitive areas like THE HEAD(!) exposed.
