Really cool movie cartoons

I randomly went on /film today — a site I hardly visit — but I’m glad I did. They had a post about an animator named Jim Horwat who has been making drawings based on movies. The extremely detailed and stylized drawings tell the story of the movie he’s chosen in a random sort of way.

The latest movie he has done is The Big Lebowski, which you can view here.

(Interestingly enough, if you try and right-click the images, a message comes up saying the images are copyrighted, and you cannot copy them. I should get that for my photos … )

He has also done The Goonies, Back to the Future, Evil Dead, and many more, which can be viewed here.

I find his style really interesting, and I love that he seems to specialize in campy horror movies and cult classics.

  1. That is a pretty cool drawing, and I liked the Goonies one, too! Also, he’s selling prints for just $12-20 on his website, I noticed. That’s kind of an okay deal!

(as an aside, if you can see it on your computer, it’s trivial to copy it. I had no trouble just dragging a copy to my desktop, for example. I totally respect the guy’s copyright and his desire to sell copies, so it feels like I’d be kind of a dick to post a crop of it here, but it’d be totally legal)

    • You can also screenshot it pretty easily, its very difficult to prevent people from stealing an image off your website, it is possible but almost never worth the hassle.

If you really don’t want your images stolen watermark them, then at least you get credit when they repost :P Or at least they have to work for it to steal if they want to edit it out in photoshop.
