Is everyone who drinks Bud Light Lime getting paid to do so, or something?

Full disclosure: I’ve never tried the stuff. But, I’m not big fan of regular Budweiser, and I’m sincerely not a fan of light beer in general. So regular Bud Light is already facing two strikes. And then they came out with Bud Light Lime. And I thought, seriously? What a marketing gimmick. No one will fall for that.

And then I ran into a guy buying it, and he swore that it was the best thing for drinking by a barbecue.

And then I heard of more people drinking it, and then I heard that it was sold out.

I know, right! That’s like a month! Who’s drinking this stuff, and why!?

Plus, at least where I live, Bud Light Lime is more expensive than Corona — so much more expensive that if you choose Corona or Sol over Bud Light Lime, you’ve got more than enough left over FOR ACTUAL LIMES!

I even made a video, except we turned the camera sideways and can’t figure out how to rotate the video file*

*For the geeks out there, my camera apparently records in mp4, but the audio codec is a weird one. Even VLC can’t play it, so I can’t rotate the video while keeping the audio track. Not that it’s synced up anyway, but you get the gist, right?

    Grant being tipsy is a good bet all the time, Juel! It’s because his friends are all so intoxicating.

    I don’t get the BL Lime thing either. It’s just some big bloated corporation marketing, is all. Viva Corona, amigos!

    Amen. I tried it last year in Vegas, and don’t bother. It has this gross artificial lime taste and reminded me of what it would be like to gulp down a Coors Light and then chew on a big handful of lime-green gummy worms. Stick with Corona.

    I bet it’s sold out because the Weiser wanted to make BLL sound more appetizing than it actually is – in the same manner that video game consoles are always understocked at stores when they are first released, just so that people talk about how badly they want one and make stores look good by creating long lineups, early in the morning.

    Smart scheme, from a skullduggery point-of-view – they’ve read the book “Bellwether”, added some cheap artificial flavor to some cheap artificial beer, and charged more for it than “fancy” beer.

    Me, my Corona, and scurvy-preventing lime will be very happy together.

    For all that I like lime-green gummy worms, I doubt they go with beer any more than the mythical Skittlebrau.

    I am very pleased with the support there seems to be out there for my anti-BLL crusade. Methinks this calls for a get-together!

    For sure we should have a BLL party – boycott le lime. Last night after golf two of my friends ordered BLL, they took a sip and said hmmm, no lime taste. The course was sold out, so instead of asking if they wanted something different the waitress just brought bud lite…On a happier note there is an awesome wine sale on at the MLCC right now, stocking up later :)

    Bud is awful stuff, and Bud Lite is quite possibly the second worst ‘major’ beer I’ve ever had, second only to Busch Lite, which is quite a bit like making love in a canoe.

    Awful, awful, retch-inducing stuff.

    I don’t get why people drink lite beer at all, for starters. Nor why anyone gets Budweiser.

    I hereby nominate Grant to channel our incoherent antipathy towards lite beer into a social gathering.

    there should be a class action lawsuit against labatts for promoting something so heavy they can’t provide. false advertising.i e mailed them and all i got back was a forum letter thanking me for my interest in budweiser. hellooo complaining isn’t an interest

      I agree that form letters in reply just irk me more than the original complaint I was making! But are you arguing that there should be a class-action lawsuit because they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams?

      In certain situations (see also: the Wii) shortages of a product can create a frenzy that in turn creates an even larger demand for the product. I think that’s a loathesome way to treat your fans — like dangling candy in front of a kid, but keeping it away from him while he dances — but too difficult to prove.

    yes but the wii people at least had the forthsight to stop advertising and tell the piblic the problem. unstead of having commercials on t.v. banners enerywhere and every bar and patio decked out in full regalia.
