Today is Earth Day. Like many people, I’m going to walk to work, make sure my thermostat is turned down a little bit, and feel really, really bad if I throw a recyclable into the garbage.
Tomorrow will be just another day, like yesterday was. I don’t know that tiny behaviour modifications one day of the year will ever add up to very much, but if you do nothing else to mark Earth Day, take a moment to look at that picture above.
Go ahead, click on it if you like, to make it bigger. Try to figure out whereabouts you live. Drink it in. It’s a lovely little planet — a blue miracle.
And until we devote as much money to NASA as we do towards cars, factories and the military, it’s the only one we’ve got.
Happy Earth Day, everybody.
