Calvin & Hobbes
As much as I appreciate the fact that Bill Watterson quit drawing his strip while at the height of his game, saving his strip from becoming a parody of itself (I’m looking at you, Garfield), I still miss Calvin and Hobbes everytime I open the paper to the comics page.
Speaking of Garfield, you have to check out this site.

Me too
Although, like you, I’m glad we don’t have years of shitty strips tainting our memories, I would love to see the Calvin & Hobbes take on things like the internet. Watterson was always inventive in terms of strip layout, I’m sure he could have done some innovative things with hypertext.
Still, if I made it big and got rich (and disillusioned) would I quit and retire early? I think perhaps I would. Respect him for that.
Scott Adams took a fantastic swing at Watterson in his first book, “The Dilbert Principle”, whereupon he hoped someday he too could be “tired” and retire. (read: cha-CHING).
It was undoubtedly a clever comic but towards the end became so saccharine I almost went into diabetic shock at reading it.
